Diarrhea is not an independent ailment, but only accompanies the disease. Folk remedies help get rid of diarrhea in children, but do not treat the main disease. So for disorders in newborns and older children, you need to combine herbal decoctions with medications.

Diarrhea is...

Diarrhea (diarrhea) is frequent loose stools, which is often not accompanied by fever and other unpleasant symptoms. However, this condition should not be underestimated. It is often associated with digestive disorders. This may be the accelerated passage of food through the gastrointestinal tract, an abundance of mucus, or impaired absorption of water in the intestines.

It should be noted that a single loose stool cannot be called diarrhea. It occurs due to a product that is unusual for the child, which was eaten the day before.

Diarrhea in a child: main causes

There are several causes of the disorder in children, among which are the following:

  • intense peristalsis , in which food does not have time to be digested and leaves undigested in the feces;
  • certain viruses and bacteria that enter the body with food and water;
  • taking antibiotics , as a result of which bacteria beneficial to the microflora die, the functioning of the digestive system is disrupted and dysbiosis occurs. In this case, the stool may have a foamy consistency, mushy or watery with an admixture of mucus, have a greenish tint and an unpleasant odor;
  • stressful situations : for children, even a small experience in the understanding of adults can be stress, which leads to bowel problems - diarrhea;
  • intolerance to certain foods , this is especially observed during the introduction of complementary foods or in children prone to allergic reactions;
  • colds , in which diarrhea is one of the symptoms.

Folk remedies for diarrhea in children can help solve the problem. Sometimes it’s worth removing a product that the child’s body cannot tolerate, and the stool will improve on its own. In case of dysbacteriosis, beneficial bacteria and microorganisms will become the main assistant. If a child gets sick, it is enough to eliminate the main symptoms of the disease. In case of a stressful situation, you should take care of a warm, cozy atmosphere for the child, in which he will feel calm and comfortable. In case of intestinal infections, it is necessary to be attentive to the general condition of the child, and in no case allow the body to become dehydrated, and if necessary, seek qualified help from a doctor.

Types of diarrhea

Diarrhea can occur for the following reasons:

  1. Viral or bacterial infection. Often accompanied by an increase in temperature.
  2. Poor nutrition. Occurs when an overly strict diet, lack of vitamins in the diet or food allergies. This way the body gets rid of the allergen. A similar reaction can occur when taking certain medications. For example, antibiotics or sulfonamides.
  3. Inadequate processing of food by enzymes. If there is secretory insufficiency of the stomach, pancreas, liver or intestines, difficulties arise with digestion.
  4. Poisoning with heavy metals: mercury, lead or arsenic. This category also includes the ingestion of toxic substances into the body: ethyl alcohol, nicotine. Toxic diarrhea in a child also occurs due to the accumulation of harmful substances in the body when the functioning of one or another organ is disrupted. For example, when the kidneys are damaged, urea accumulates in the blood, which poisons the entire body.
  5. Long-term use of antibiotics causes drug-induced diarrhea in children. Occurs due to dysbiosis, which is caused by antibiotics.
  6. In medicine there is such a thing as neurogenic diarrhea. It occurs due to severe emotional shock and is caused by a violation of the nervous regulation of the intestines.

Diarrhea itself is dangerous because it can cause dehydration. Therefore, if diarrhea occurs in a child under one year of age, it is recommended to consult a doctor. After all, dehydration can be fatal. Older children and adults can be treated at home. It should be said that traditional medicine offers a lot of effective recipes. However, for proper treatment, you first need to determine the cause of this condition.

Herbal infusions to relieve symptoms of diarrhea

Mint leaves contain menthol, which has an anti-inflammatory and disinfectant effect. Mint helps in treating diarrhea caused by stressful situations. The leaves of the plant help eliminate toxins and have a calming effect on the baby.

Chamomile

After taking the decoction, the baby’s frequency of bowel movements decreases. Chamomile can relieve a child from flatulence and colic. To prepare the decoction, you need to pour tbsp into the container. spoon of vegetable raw materials. Pour a glass of boiling water over chamomile and leave covered for an hour. Be sure to consider the dosage. The younger the baby, the lower the concentration of the decoction should be.

Cumin seeds are not only a seasoning for various dishes. This plant shows good results in indigestion. In a child under one year old, the digestive organs have not yet fully formed.

Enzyme deficiency can cause diarrhea. To prepare the infusion, pour a teaspoon of seeds with a glass of boiling water. After filtering through a piece of gauze, the liquid is given to the baby according to a tablespoon. spoon 3 times a day.

Chicory

You can cope with intense diarrhea with the help of chicory. The plant has an antimicrobial and astringent effect. Babies up to one year old are given a teaspoon of decoction every 3 hours.

In what cases can you not use only folk recipes?

It is not always advisable to treat diarrhea in a child with folk remedies. If blood is noticeable in the stool or severe pain is observed, it is important to consult a doctor.

In addition, diarrhea can be caused by diseases of the internal organs, for example, pancreatitis. In this case, it is the cause, not the effect, that needs to be treated. Diarrhea often occurs due to serious intestinal infections, salmonellosis, for example. It requires immediate medical intervention. Often, salmonellosis and other similar infections are also accompanied by vomiting and fever.

When home treatment is dangerous

Home treatment for diarrhea does not replace consultation with a pediatrician. Most likely, to establish an accurate diagnosis, you will need to undergo tests and be examined by a gastroenterologist.

But there are situations when it is impossible to continue independent treatment. Carefully monitor the child’s condition and at the first sign of danger, call an ambulance. These serious symptoms include:

  • severe abdominal pain, regardless of its location;
  • frequent episodes of diarrhea lasting more than 24 hours, despite measures taken;
  • intense vomiting;
  • dark urine or lack of urination for the last 6–7 hours;
  • detection of blood particles in the stool;
  • persistent increase in temperature;
  • dry tongue and skin discoloration;
  • sunken eyeballs.

When choosing a way to cure diarrhea in a child without the help of specialists, parents must understand the full degree of responsibility. Therefore, carefully assess the condition of your baby, and only then choose the appropriate remedy. But remember that there is not always time to experiment with traditional medicine.

Instead of "Regidron"

A drug with this name normalizes the water-salt balance in the body, disturbed by repeated liquid bowel movements. However, a liquid similar in action to “Regidron” can be prepared at home.

You will need to dissolve a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of salt in a glass of boiled water, cooled to room temperature. You need to feed your child a little bit of this mixture every 15 minutes. It is good because it is suitable for both infants and older children. Even teenagers can be treated for diarrhea in this way. This is an excellent folk remedy for treating diarrhea in children.

Prevention and rehabilitation

Recommendations that will help overcome the disease as soon as possible:

  • Include boiled rice in your menu. It should be consumed without seasoning, frying or oil. A small amount of salt is allowed.
  • Be sure to give the patient bananas. During illness, he should eat at least 1 fruit per day. For schoolchildren, you can increase the number of bananas to 3. Other fruits and berries should be removed from the diet.
  • Reduce physical and emotional stress.

General recommendations:

  • Conduct an educational conversation on the benefits of hygiene. Try to explain how important it is to wash your hands and when exactly you should do it.
  • Keep an eye on the fact that there is a child. Don't let him spend his pocket money on chewing gum, chips and soda. Tell us how harmful these products are.
  • Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before serving.
  • Keep your refrigerator clean. Do not store food in it after the expiration date. Remember that juices, canned food and preserves, if the integrity of the packaging has been damaged, are only suitable for food for 1-2 days.

Folk remedies for diarrhea for adults and children are appropriate only if the deterioration in health has occurred recently.

Did the illness make itself felt 2-3 days ago? Contact your doctor immediately.

Note!

The presence of symptoms such as:

  • smell from the mouth
  • stomach ache
  • heartburn
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • nausea, vomiting
  • belching
  • increased gas formation (flatulence)

If you have at least 2 of these symptoms, then this indicates a developing

gastritis or stomach ulcer.

These diseases are dangerous due to the development of serious complications (penetration, gastric bleeding, etc.), many of which can lead to

LETHAL

outcome. Treatment needs to start now.

“Then diarrhea, then scrofula”... So in the old days they said about a series of troubles that happen one after another. If we take everything literally, then diarrhea and other intestinal troubles actually happen to children quite often. I think everyone knows that diarrhea is especially dangerous for young children.

Is it possible to treat diarrhea with folk remedies? Yes, you can. But first you should clearly understand what kind of diarrhea you are dealing with. Is it a consequence of indigestion or a symptom of a dangerous and serious disease? The answer to this question will explain the advisability of using alternative medicine. Let's try to figure it out.

Symptoms and signs

It is unlikely that anyone has difficulty recognizing diarrhea in a child. Symptoms are always characteristic. These include loose stools, frequent urge to go to the toilet, abdominal pain, and lack of appetite. The child may become lethargic, apathetic, or, conversely, irritable and aggressive.

Sometimes in the stool you can see blood impurities and large fragments of food that are not completely digested. The sharp unpleasant smell of feces should also alert parents.

If the symptoms are more or less clear, then it is much more difficult to recognize the causes of diarrhea. If the condition is caused by the fact that the child ate a low-quality product or you made poorly compatible food combinations (herring with milk, for example), then such diarrhea is quite easy to overcome with the help of “grandmother’s” recipes.

If diarrhea is a consequence of acclimatization in a child (during a change in climate, drinking water, new food, when traveling on vacation to the sea), then the use of folk remedies is also effective and justified.

Diarrhea as a symptom of the presence of worms in a child is also subject to correction with folk remedies, as are the helminthic infestations themselves.

If the cause of diarrhea lies in disorders of the nervous system, then unconventional therapeutic measures should be aimed not only at eliminating loose and frequent stools, but also at normalizing the child’s psycho-emotional background and solving his psychological problems.

Diarrhea of viral origin (enterovirus, rotavirus infections) can be quite successfully treated using remedies from the arsenal of traditional medicine at home.

Sometimes diarrhea begins in children due to a lack of certain enzymes, if the pancreas cannot cope with its “duties”. Such a disorder requires qualified medical assistance.

However, if there is blood in the stool, and diarrhea is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, a strong smell of stool, and severe intoxication, the child may require quite traditional medical care. It is possible that the intestinal infection was caused by dangerous bacteria or viruses. Diarrhea can also be a symptom of a serious gastrointestinal disease.

And in the next video, Doctor Komarovsky will tell us all about childhood intestinal infections.

What is the danger?

Diarrhea can lead to dehydration. In addition, with frequent loose stools, the child rapidly loses vitamins, microelements, and nutrients.

When are traditional methods not enough?

Relying on the healing effect of folk remedies is quite stupid and even criminal if a child has diarrhea accompanied by vomiting, blood is noticeable in the stool, and severe pain is observed. In this condition, it is best to call an ambulance, because it may turn out that your baby does not need medicinal herbal tea, but urgent surgical intervention.

Not always folk remedies can cope with such a condition of the body as intestinal dysbiosis. If diarrhea occurs while taking antibiotics or immediately after a course of treatment, correction will also require drug treatment. “Grandma’s” recipes can only temporarily “muffle” the manifestations of dysbiosis, but will not rid the child of it completely and will not be able to restore the intestinal microflora to its full extent.

It is definitely dangerous to treat bacterial infections that cause diarrhea with herbs and garlic enemas. These are cholera, dysentery, salmonellosis and staphylococcal infection. With such diarrhea, the baby usually experiences vomiting and a high fever.

For diarrhea that accompanies diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (pancreatitis, hepatitis, etc.), therapy specifically for the diseased organ is required, and not symptomatic treatment.

And now Doctor Komarovsky will tell us about rotovirus and why it is dangerous.

Folk remedies Rice water

Boil 100 grams of rice in unsalted water, drain, the rice can be eaten by adults, cool the broth until warm and let the child drink it several times a day. For babies under 1 year old – a tablespoon 3-4 times a day, for children from 1 to 3 years old – a quarter glass 3 times a day, for older children – half a glass 3 times a day. Diarrhea can be stopped in 2-3 days with the help of rice decoction.

Substitute for "Regidron"

A drug with this name normalizes the water-salt balance in the body, disturbed by repeated liquid bowel movements. But if a child has diarrhea, and there is not a single packet of Regidron in the home medicine cabinet, and for some reason there is no way to urgently get to the pharmacy, you can prepare the medicine yourself.

Take sugar (a tablespoon), salt (a teaspoon) and a glass of boiled water, cooled to room temperature. Mix it all and give your baby a few sips every 15 minutes. This product is suitable for newborns, children 2-5 years old, and teenagers.

Oak bark

Both an infusion of oak bark, which is sold in a pharmacy, and dry raw materials are suitable. The infusion is diluted with boiled water and enemas are given for diarrhea; a decoction of the bark is also suitable for this use. To prepare the product, take a tablespoon of crushed bark and two tablespoons of chamomile. Mix everything and pour boiling water (500 g).

Let the resulting liquid infuse for about an hour in a thermos, after which it should be strained through several layers of gauze, add a few drops of valerian tincture. The resulting product is used for enemas three times a day. Children from birth to three years old are given oak bark only with the permission of the pediatrician.

Chicory flowers

Using this remedy, you can stop diarrhea in children of any age, however, if the baby is not yet 2 years old, this plant should be used with extreme caution and only with the permission of a doctor. You will need a teaspoon of dried chicory flowers (the collection is sold in pharmacies and private herbalists) and half a liter of water. You need to boil the raw material for about 10 minutes, then let the broth brew thoroughly. Strain and give children 1 teaspoon 3 times a day, and children aged 3 years and older - 1.5 tablespoons three times a day.

Bananas

These children's favorite fruits are rich in potassium, and it is its deficiency that occurs in the body as a result of diarrhea. In addition, parents do not have to persuade their child to take medicine; bananas are tasty and healthy. Give your child one ripe fruit every hour.

If your child has not yet learned to chew food thoroughly, grind the banana pulp in a blender and let your baby eat the resulting puree. You shouldn’t wash down or eat a banana with anything. Usually the yellow fruit cures diarrhea within a day.

Baked apples

This is another tasty and enjoyable way to relieve your child of diarrhea. Give oven-baked fruits one at a time every hour.

Pomegranate

Older children can be given pomegranate seeds; children should not be given them. To treat diarrhea in children aged 6-7 years, make a decoction of pomegranate peel. Remove it from one ripe medium-sized fruit, add water (0.5 liters) and boil.

Let it brew, strain through several layers of gauze, and then give the child, cooled, 2-3 teaspoons several times a day. Pomegranate is rich in tannins, and diarrhea usually clears up in one to two days.

Bird cherry

The fruits of this tree, as everyone knows from childhood, are very astringent. This effect is due to the presence of a large amount of tannins in bird cherry berries; they are rightfully considered one of the most effective remedies for diarrhea. Throw 5-7 berries into a glass of boiling water and leave for about an hour. Then the drink is heated to a warm state and given to the child in small portions each time before meals.

Blueberry

This berry is truly unique: when it is ripe, it has a laxative effect, and when dried, it is an excellent remedy for diarrhea. Take 30 gr. dried blueberries, make a decoction using 250 grams of water. Give your child a quarter glass of the resulting drink 4 times a day.

Alder fruit

Brew 4 grams of raw materials in 250 grams of boiling water, boil in a water bath for 15 minutes, let it brew and give the child 2 tablespoons of water 4 times a day. Alder has a positive effect on the intestinal mucous membranes and normalizes peristalsis.

The danger of self-medication

Diarrhea, as we have already found out, is most dangerous for young children. The smaller the baby, the more dangerous diarrhea is for him. For this reason, you should not get carried away with treatment at home using folk recipes when it comes to intestinal disorders in newborns, infants under 1 year old and children under 3 years old. Even if you suspect that the cause is simple food indigestion or teething, be sure to seek help from a doctor.

The optimal treatment regimen for diarrhea is prescribed by a specialist after establishing the true causes of diarrhea. Delay in most cases poses a serious risk to the child's life, because diarrhea leads to fairly rapid dehydration of the body, and this condition can be fatal.

What can't you do?

  • Give plenty of fluids and decoctions in large quantities in case of intense vomiting.
  • Take oak bark internally. Despite the fact that many folk recipes based on this useful raw material recommend drinking oak decoction, when treating children, oak bark is used exclusively externally and nasally (for a runny nose). It is dangerous for children to drink it, because it has a strong astringent effect, and the abundance of essential oils can cause severe allergies.
  • Children should not be given products containing pomegranate peels. For babies this can be very toxic and harmful.
  • Don't insist that your child eat. With diarrhea, loss of appetite is quite normal. Some doctors even recommend treating diarrhea with fasting.

Adviсe

To determine the causes of diarrhea at home, you can use special tests that are sold in pharmacies. They are able to answer the question of whether a bacterial or other infection caused loose stools.

In order not to treat unpleasant symptoms such as diarrhea, you must strictly follow the rules of hygiene. Teach your child to wash his hands before eating and immediately after returning from a walk, let him know from an early age that vegetables and fruits should only be consumed washed. Do not give your child spring water.

Nursing mothers should closely monitor their own diet and avoid eating foods that have a pronounced laxative effect (plums, for example). Then the baby’s loose stools will be an infrequent occurrence.

Treatment of diarrhea with medications is not justified in all cases. This is due to the fact that side effects often occur after taking medications. Therefore, concerned parents use folk remedies for diarrhea in children.

The benefits of baked apples

If you have diarrhea, it is not recommended to eat raw vegetables and fruits, as they contain coarse fiber. Heat treatment in the oven will preserve most of the beneficial properties of the products, but at the same time make them more easily digestible for the intestines.

Baked apples are especially useful for diarrhea in a child. They saturate the body with healthy sugars and do not burden the digestive organs. The pectin included in their composition is a prebiotic that will restore damaged intestinal microflora.

Characteristic symptoms of diarrhea in children

The parent is obliged to monitor the health of the children. Even minimal changes in behavior are regarded as signs of illness. Especially in a small patient. The consequences of procrastination can be difficult to reverse. It is possible to stop the disease only by identifying the source of infection. To do this, they study the symptoms of common diseases. The occurrence of diarrhea in children does not go away without leaving a trace. Accompanied by characteristic symptoms:

  • Obvious weakness;
  • Weight loss;
  • Rumbling in the stomach;
  • The patient does not eat food for a long time;
  • False urge to go to the toilet;
  • The appearance of mucus and blood in the stool.

According to statistics, the peak occurrence of diarrhea is recorded during the summer season. This is due to changes in diet. Children need to eat fruits and vegetables. High seasonal temperatures spoil food. This type of food is the main cause of diarrhea in children.

All parents need to know what to do if their child does not stop vomiting?

Benefits of bananas for diarrhea

Here's what you can safely give your child for diarrhea. These delicious tropical fruits can cure diarrhea within 24 hours. It is recommended to give your baby one banana every hour. If you think this is too much of a “dosage”, you can reduce it. For example, infants can be given grated fruit only in the amount of 2-3 teaspoons.

Bananas are good because they are rich in potassium, a deficiency of which occurs with diarrhea. They also ensure rapid restoration of the functions of the stomach and intestines, form fecal masses, and prevent the loss of fluid by the body.

However, please note that they are contraindicated for use if the child has problems with the pancreas or liver.

What berries can help a child suffering from diarrhea?

Bird cherry

Bird cherry berries have astringent properties. The fruits of this plant are used in the treatment of digestive disorders. It is recommended to prepare the decoction as follows. After filtering, the product should be given to the baby 100 ml 3 times a day.

Hawthorn

Hawthorn decoction

Hawthorn has long been used to treat various forms of diarrhea. These berries help with bacterial infection. They suppress the activity of harmful bacteria in the child’s intestines.

Thanks to its astringent properties, hawthorn eliminates the symptoms of diarrhea and promotes the elimination of toxins. A decoction from this plant is rich in vitamins and microelements, which the baby loses due to intense diarrhea.

5 grams of fruits are brewed with a cup of hot water. After this, the solution must be boiled for 10 minutes. A sick child should be given a tablespoon before each meal.

Sea buckthorn

To prepare a healing decoction, not only the leaves, but also the branches of the plant are used. Pour a tablespoon of raw material into a container and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.

Cranberry

Sour berries have disinfectant properties. Cranberries are an ideal way to treat diarrhea. To prepare 2 glasses of healing infusion, mash 2 tbsp. spoons of berries with a mortar. After this, fill the raw material with hot water. The drink can be drunk immediately after cooling.

Blueberry

Blueberries can be used to treat non-infectious diarrhea. It contains a large amount of vitamins and minerals. To prepare a healing decoction, you need to take 4 teaspoons of dried fruits and pour 2 cups of boiling water. The product must be infused for 8 hours.

Black pepper for diarrhea

When pepper enters the stomach, it stimulates the release of hydrochloric acid, which activates the production of enzymes. They begin to intensively process everything that gets into the stomach. When toxins are removed from the body naturally after defecation (stool), diarrhea also stops.

You need to drink 15 black peppercorns without chewing them and wash them down with a glass of water. It's better to do this before bed. Children from the age of five can also be given pepper, but at the same time reducing the number of peas by about 2 times. Some experts say that children under ten years of age are not recommended to be given black pepper. Also, you should not give pepper to a child if you have heart and vascular diseases, anemia, diseases of the nerves, liver, urinary system, allergies, or hemorrhoids.

Congee

Doctors prescribe rice water for diarrhea for children. It has a binding effect. It coats the intestinal walls and removes toxins from the child's body. Also takes part in the formation of feces.

Children should not be given rice water if they have diarrhea that is accompanied by vomiting. In addition, if parents notice an admixture of blood or other liquid in the stool, they should not self-medicate.

How to prepare the product? You need to purchase white uncooked rice. If you are preparing it for a baby, it is recommended to leave it in water for 12 hours. It is recommended to boil two glasses of tap water and add two tablespoons of rice to it. Cook the broth over low heat, stirring constantly. It is important that it does not burn or stick to the bottom of the pan. If this happens, add boiled water. Salt and sugar cannot be added to it. The broth should turn out fresh and viscous.

After an hour, you need to turn off the gas and leave the broth to brew. After another half hour, it should be strained using a sterile bandage folded in half.

If diarrhea has overcome an infant (under the age of one year), then you need to give him about 50 milliliters of the healing composition at one time. If the baby refuses to drink from a bottle, then you can use a spoon or syringe. Never mix the solution with baby food or breast milk. The medicine must be used separately. You need to give the baby a decoction up to 4 times a day. It is necessary to stop taking it as soon as the baby feels better.

If an older child has diarrhea, the folk remedy for treatment should be given a little differently. The child should drink a quarter glass at a time. For two days you need to take the decoction every 3-4 hours. However, if diarrhea changes to constipation, this treatment method should be abandoned. A folk remedy for diarrhea in a child has an effect already at the first use, therefore it is very popular among mothers.

Means of sorbent and fastening action

Absorbing home remedies that have a binding effect are recommended to be taken to remove toxins, gases, and microbes from the small body. Simultaneously with this effect, plant-based products protect the intestinal mucosa from damage and change the consistency of stool.

When using sorbent compounds to treat diarrhea in a baby, you should not combine them with other agents. It is not recommended to supplement treatment with medications that have similar effects - this leads to undesirable consequences and aggravates the situation.

Rice congee

Use rice water only for diarrhea that is not caused by a bacterial infection. Even children are allowed to use the product - it has no contraindications.

Preparation:

  1. Rinse rice grains (25 g) in cool water.
  2. Pour boiling water (500 ml) over the rice.
  3. Cook, avoiding excessive boiling and stirring the mixture occasionally, for 45 minutes.

Give chilled jelly to infants 15 ml every hour, to children after one year - 50 ml. There is no need to add sugar or salt during cooking - they reduce the effectiveness of the composition.

Starch solution

A solution prepared from starch is recommended for children from six months of age. The product has an enveloping and astringent effect - it protects the intestinal mucosa and at the same time has a positive effect on the consistency of stool.

Preparation:

  1. Bring water to a boil, cool completely.
  2. Dissolve 15 g in 25 ml of liquid. starch powder.
  3. Do not store, use immediately.

It is recommended to give the drink to your child every three hours. The duration of treatment should not exceed 2 days.

Baked apples

  5. Grind the hot slices with a blender into a homogeneous puree.

Give children 15-20 grams of baked apple puree. in one go. Use the product three times a day, preferably at equal intervals.

Pomegranate for diarrhea

Few people know that pomegranate peels can help with diarrhea in a child. The polyphenols contained in the composition help cope with infectious diseases, including the growth of dysentery bacillus. Pomegranate peels have a pronounced astringent property, they relieve inflammation and have a mild antiparasitic effect, accelerating the healing of ulcers, if any.

Before preparing the product, it is important to pay attention to the condition of the fruit rind. It should be elastic and firm, without irregularities and visible infectious lesions. However, if the shell is too smooth, this indicates that the product is not yet ripe.

The fruit peel should be thoroughly washed and dried with a paper towel. Then you need to remove the white pulp from it, which does not contain any useful substances. The processed pieces of crust are laid out on a cloth and covered with gauze. Drying duration is 7-10 days. You can also use a special fruit dryer, which will cope with the task much faster. Ready-made crusts can be stored for a long time in an airtight container that does not contain moisture. A decoction of pomegranate peels for diarrhea is very effective. If dried peels are not available, fresh ones can be used.

The cooking recipe is as follows: pour boiling water (1 glass) over a handful of raw materials, cover with a lid and leave to steep for half an hour. Or pour 10 g of raw material into 200 ml of boiling water and keep the broth for 15-20 minutes in a water bath. The broth is not filtered and stored in the refrigerator. If necessary, add a little water to achieve the desired temperature.

At the same time, pomegranate peels are contraindicated in the presence of a tendency to allergic reactions, rashes, constipation and fragility of blood vessels.

The amount of use depends on the age of the child. Infants should be given a decoction of 10 ml three times a day. Although some doctors do not recommend giving it to children under 6 months. For children from 1 to 12 years old, 10 ml of decoction is recommended 4-5 times a day. If the child is older, he should drink 20 ml of the product three times a day. The full course of treatment is 2 days. If there is no improvement, you should consult a doctor.

Products with bactericidal properties

Most often, a child develops diarrhea as a result of eating poor-quality food or unwashed vegetables. The results of poisoning are that bacteria begin to work in the digestive tract, affecting the stool and capable of causing additional symptoms.

In such cases, it is recommended to use traditional medicine that reduces the intensity of diarrhea and at the same time destroys bacteria that are no less harmful to the small organism. How to treat a child, and what plants or herbs to use?

Walnut decoction (green fruit peel or partitions)

A walnut-based product is considered safe, but it is recommended to give it only to children after one year of age - homemade medicine often causes constipation in infants. The decoction has astringent and bactericidal properties and is capable of restoring intestinal flora.

Preparation:

  1. Grind the partitions or peels of green fruits (for the medicine you will need only 25 grams of plant material).
  2. Pour boiling water (500 ml) into the pulp from the peel or powder from the partitions.

  • take 2/3 cup of water and bring to a boil;
  • 1 teaspoon of starch (potato) is added to 1/3 cup;

If you have a weakened immune system and hyperfunction of the thyroid gland, you should start taking it with small doses, 1 teaspoon per glass of water.

Blue iodine is combined with other folk remedies, however, it should not be taken during treatment with antibiotics and other chemicals.

Bird cherry berries

What to do if a child has diarrhea, what to do at home when there is no medicine at hand? One of the effective remedies that can compete with the most expensive pharmaceutical drugs is a decoction of bird cherry fruits. Garlic for diarrhea

This product is good because it kills almost all types of bacterial infections. He is even able to cope with diphtheria. Garlic is used to get rid of helminths that are present in the intestines of any person. It has antiseptic, immunomodulatory, antibacterial, anthelmintic, antifungal, and disinfectant effects.

To destroy helminths and prevent gastrointestinal diseases, adults are recommended to swallow garlic with water. The clove can be crushed. In this case, it will not cause an unpleasant odor and will have a beneficial effect on the intestines. You can swallow at any time of the day or night; some doctors advise doing it on an empty stomach.

If diarrhea has already begun, you should eat (or drink) at least three cloves of garlic per day. Strong rice water with the addition of crushed garlic cloves also helps with diarrhea.

Children should consume garlic in a slightly different way. It can be given in heat-treated form as part of dishes from 8-9 months. After three years, it can be crushed and added raw to dishes. Children over the age of 10 are not recommended to eat more than three slices per day.

Causes of diarrhea in children

Loose stools appear in children regularly. Depending on the number of years and the type of food received, the properties change. Prolonged diarrhea in children over 4 months of age is already a deviation from the norm. The reasons are:

  • Overeating (excessive oversaturation of the diet leads to diarrhea, vomiting, bloating and causes stomach upset);
  • Stress (severe stress can cause disturbances in the functioning of the child’s body);
  • Dysbacteriosis (the use of antibiotics increases the risk of disruption of intestinal microflora and is accompanied by pain);
  • Intestinal disorders (severe abdominal pain, fever, vomiting and frequent diarrhea);
  • Colds (in addition to rising temperature, profuse runny nose and cough, diarrhea appears).

Babies under 3 months of age have liquid stools by definition. They can be repeated up to 12 times a day. This does not indicate the presence of pathologies. The older the child, the greater the density of his stool. This is due to the expansion of the diet.
